President/CEO, USC CU (Los Angeles, CA)
Gary J. Perez has been the President and CEO of the USC Credit Union since 1988. Under his leadership, USCCU has grown from a limited service, $16 million campus employee credit union to a full service, $750 million non-profit cooperative serving the entire Trojan family, to include USC’s faculty, staff, students and alumni as well as the residents and small businesses in the underbanked and underserved communities surrounding USC’s South Los Angeles and East Los Angeles campuses. USCCU is among the few credit unions in the nation that are concurrently certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), a Minority Depository Institution (MDI), and a Juntos Avanzamos credit union.
Prior to joining USCCU, Gary served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Los Angeles Schools FCU, as a Regional Manager for Richards and Associates, CPAs, and as a portfolio manager for Loan Data Systems, Inc. He currently serves as a member of the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) Board of Directors and has previously served in several capacities on various trade association Boards.
Gary earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Azusa Pacific University and a master’s degree from USC’s Sol Price School of Policy, Planning and Development.
