Advocacy Update – 10/31

As we head into November, Inclusiv continues to advocate to advance our policy priorities, including financial inclusion, small business lending support, equitable homeownership opportunity, and green lending. Here’s a quick update on our latest activities and some ways you can get involved:

  • We continue to advocate with Treasury to make the ECIP disposition guidelines more accessible to small credit unions. As part of this advocacy, we are collecting impact stories from our members to support our recommendations and highlight how CDCUs are effectively utilizing ECIP funds. If interested, please submit your stories to Treasury via the instructions here and email to Sam Lee so Inclusiv can highlight your impact in future communications.
  • This week, Treasury released their inaugural National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, which Inclusiv has helped shape over the past year as part of the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program’s Working Group on Inclusive Finance. This Strategy is a comprehensive, cross-sector plan that elevates household financial security as a national priority.
  • Inclusiv submitted to the FHFA's public comment on the 2025-2027 Enterprise Housing Goals, advocating for increased targets to encourage a more inclusive housing finance system that serves low-income communities and communities of color.
  • This month, Inclusiv met with Treasury and SBA to explore pathways to increase credit union access to SSBCI and SBA programs to scale community finance for small businesses.
  • Our next Small Business Subcommittee meeting is scheduled for November 18 from 3:00-4:30 pm eastern. For those interested in joining Inclusiv’s small business advocacy efforts, please reach out to Sam Lee to receive the meeting link.
