Armando is a dedicated advocate for low income and underserved communities, with 35 years of experience in banking and credit union management. He works to help individuals achieve financial independence and is a longtime champion of small credit unions. In 2009, he received a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) designation.
Armando is an active member of the Cornerstone Credit Union League with recent positions on the Governance Task Force and the Small Credit Union Committee. He has been the Chairman of the Kingsville Housing Authority and President of Kingsville Affordable Housing. He is the past membership chair of the Coastal Bend Chapter of Credit Unions and currently serves on the Innovative Technology, Inc. (INTECH) Client Board, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Education and Human Performance Advisory Council, and Inclusiv Board.
Armando has experience in turning around a credit union placed in special actions by the National Credit Union Administration, resulting in long-term growth and profitability. He is a 1982 Business Administration Finance Graduate of Texas A&I University and in 1993 received a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking Louisiana State University. Armando is the recipient of the 2014 Small Business Administration “Financial Services Champion of the Year” award for both the Harlingen District and Corpus Christi Branch office.
