Luis Peralta is the Chief Administrative Officer of Kinecta Federal Credit Union and President of Nix Neighborhood Lending. Kinecta is one of the nation’s largest credit unions, with approximately $4 Billion in assets; and more than 290,000 members nationwide. As President of NIX, Luis holds responsibilities for the company’s transition from check cashing and transactional services to its current focus as a leading, community-focused provider of high-quality small-dollar lending products (including Kinecta’s nationally recognized Payday Payoff Installment Loans). Additionally, Luis upholds Kinecta’s mission of helping customers responsibly build credit and oversees responsibility for all aspects of the 30 Nix branches throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
Luis has more than 20 years of experience in financial services throughout Latin America and the U.S. with a focus on the underserved and under-banked communities. Luis brings a unique perspective to his professional role. Growing grew up in Mexico, Luis’ family moved frequently due to his father’s job in highway construction. An early entrepreneur, Luis began working at the age of eight, first bagging groceries in a local supermarket, and later as a fruit cart vendor in a local shopping mall.
Luis’ role at NIX is the first time he’s worked at a non-profit, one with a mission-driven approach, a commitment to increasing financial opportunities for families and increasing the standard of living for the underserved.
Luis earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from CETYS and a Master of Business Administration from IPADE, both in Mexico. He has received Executive Education Certificates from the Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business. Luis currently serves on the board of FiSCA, The Nix Neighborhood Foundation, The Children’s Dental Centers and CU Revest. Luis also volunteered for the Mexican Red Cross as a paramedic for over 5 years.
When not spending time with his family including an 8 month baby girl, Luis enjoys playing the Spanish guitar, horseback riding, Salsa dancing, and tennis.
