Integrating Financial Services and Products for Employees in the Workplace

Description: Employers can serve as a unique conduit to help individuals connect with safe and affordable financial products and services. This workshop will look at several different programs that connect unbanked and underbanked employees to financial services beyond traditional offerings such as retirement plans. Programs such as checking and savings accounts, pay and cash disbursement solutions, and financial counseling will be discussed as well as integration strategies for these initiatives.

           Immigrant Loans: Pathways to Financial Inclusion

Description: Credit Union and Loan fund programs that reach immigrant communities provide a pathway towards citizenship and opportunities to build financial security. This panel will look at various loan programs that are both important to borrowers and create a market for lenders.

Green Jobs-Green New York (GJGNY)

Description: This groundbreaking program developed by the Center for Working Families, and administered by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA), dramatically increases homeowners’ ability to complete energy efficiency upgrades (retrofits) to their homes. This workshop will look at how the program works and a proposed pilot to expand access through CDFIs using on-bill recovery, where retrofit costs are repaid on the homeowner’s utility bill using savings from reduced energy consumption. The workshop will also highlight how on-bill recovery is offered by Craft3, a CDFI based in Washington and Oregon.

You will learn several techniques to use with your board, volunteers or colleagues to re-vitalize or develop your organization's prospect list.

The Business Path: Turning a Dream into Reality

Description: The desire to target specific populations has taken our ever-popular ‘Intro to Entrepreneurship’ class in a new direction! This updated class offers a new model of teaching and learning - The Business Path, a visual that compliments Alternatives FCU's existing Credit Path. With the Business Path, class participants get a taste of what it takes to develop a business from vision to reality.

Creating Opportunities for MWBE contractors: Innovative Loans and Technical Assistance

Description:A lack of upfront financing and targeted technical assistance can restrict opportunities for small contractors to become licensed or access government contracts. In this workshop, you will learn about two innovative programs- the Business Outreach Center’s “Contract Mobilization Loan Program” and the Queens EDC’s “Home Improvement Contract Program”- that provide critical financing and technical assistance to MWBEs.
