Richard L. (Dick) Ensweiler is the CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League. A dedicated credit union enthusiast, he has spent his entire professional career in the credit union movement.

Adding to his many honors, the Federation has presented Dick with the Friends of the Federation Award for his many years of service to the credit union community and for founding Juntos Avanzamos (Together We Advance), a network of credit unions committed to serving and empowering Hispanic consumers. In September 2015, the Federation joined with the Cornerstone League, the California and Nevada League, the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, Mountain West Credit Union Association, Iowa Credit Union League, Coopera and NLCUP to take Juntos Avanzamos national. The Juntos Avanzamos network is growing and today Juntos Avanzamos credit unions serve over 4 million consumers, delivering responsible financial products through over 600 community branches.

Dick began his career with the Texas Credit Union League in 1995. Now Cornerstone is the largest regional credit union trade association in the country, and has been established as one of the most respected and effective organizations advocating on behalf of credit unions. Much of that success and recognition is a result of Dick’s leadership.

In his career Dick has managed Harley Davidson Credit Union, was a senior officer at CUNA Mutual, and has been President and CEO of the Minnesota, Illinois, and Texas Leagues. He currently serves as Chairman of CU Partner Link and Credit Union House and is on the Boards of League InfoSight, Town North Bank, the Credit Union Museum, CO-OP Shared Service Centers, the Harmon Killebrew Foundation and his alma mater, Lakeland College. Dick served on the Board of Directors of CUNA – the Credit Union National Association – and was its Chairman from 2003-2005. Dick was inducted into the Illinois Credit Union League’s Hall of Fame in 2007, received the World Council of Credit Unions’ Ambassador Award in 2008 and the Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Individual Achievement in 2010. He’s been presented with the Leadership & Vision Award by the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals. He holds designations as a Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE), a Certified Association Executive (CAE), and he is a DE (Credit Union Development Educator).
