Mexico's Consular Network includes 50 offices across the US that not only provide traditional travel and immigration services, but also plays a broad role in providing education to the Mexican community in the US. One of these areas of focus is the promotion of financial inclusion, occurring this year from April 4th through the 8th, through financial education and facilitating connections with financial institutions interested in meeting the needs of this population.
We invite you to learn about the Semana de Educación Financiera (Financial Education Week), an annual initiative led by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores through the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME), in partnership with Mexican government, and the network of Mexican Consulates in the US and Canada. The Semana de Educación Financiera seeks to educate the Mexican community about the importance of financial inclusion and to facilitate the connection between responsible financial institutions committed to providing affordable products and services, regardless of a person's immigration status.

Speakers:
Sofía Orozco Aguirre: With more than 25 years of experience in the field of developing programs aimed at empowering the Mexican immigrant communities abroad, Sofía Orozco Aguirre is the Director of Economic/Financial affairs and is responsible for the Mexican Global Network at Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME). She holds a BA in education at Mexico's National Pedagogic University and a Masters' degree in Government and Public Policies at the Panamerican University in Mexico City.
Julián Escutia Rodriguez: Mr. Escutia is a career diplomat since 2005. He is currently the Head of the Consular Coordination and Hispanic Affairs Section at the Mexican Embassy in Washington, DC. He was previously posted to the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, where he was the Consul for Community and Economic Affairs, and to the Embassy of Mexico in New Zealand. He has a bachelor's degree in international relations from El Colegio de México, and a master's degree in public policy from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
