Hawaii First Collecting Donations for Volcano Relief


hawaiifcuHawaii First Aims to Support Those Displaced by the Lava Through its “Pathways to Rebuilding Lives” Project

HILO, HAWAI’I – Hawaii First Community Ventures, a 501(C)(3) non-profit arm of Hawaii First Federal Credit Union is helping to rebuild the lives of those impacted by the current lava flow disruption located in the Puna area of Hawaii Island.

Hawaii First is seeking support from its Community Development Partners to collect monetary donations which will in turn be deployed directly back to residents impacted by the volcanic activities occurring on Hawaii Island.

Residents will work one on one with Hawaii First financial coaches through the financial wellness program where they will create action plans focused on rebuilding their lives and strengthening their financial skills.

Funds will be granted to individuals as $500 or up to $2,000 per person upon completing their shortterm action steps. Funds will be used towards essential living expenses as determined in their action plan.

The effects of this devastation will be long-term, as many residents will have to find the means to start from scratch. While immediate needs are being addressed by many great organizations, Hawaii First is in it for the long-haul.
