CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: 2018 BOARD ELECTIONS

Nominations must be submitted by July 27th

The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions is seeking passionate, committed and thoughtful candidates for its Board of Directors. As members in good standing of the Federation, we urge you to consider nominating yourself or another qualified candidate for this leadership position. This is a unique opportunity to join the industry's leading voice for low-income and CDFI credit unions.

2018 Board elections will be held in the following regions:

Region 1 incumbent Cheryl Fatnassi, up for re-election
Region 2 open Incumbent Mignhon Tourné is term limited
Region 3 incumbent Armando Martinez, up for re-election
Region 4 incumbent Richard Romero, up for re-election
At-Large incumbent Paul Philips, up for re-election

The nominations deadline is July 27, 2018, and elections will take place beginning August 7, 2018. Election results will be announced at the Federation's Annual Conference on October 23, 2018 in Clearwater, FL. All candidates seeking election are expected to attend the meeting in person.

Qualifications for the Board

The Federation serves and represents diverse credit unions and communities across the country. The Federation strives for demographic, institutional, and skill set diversity on its board of directors.

Ideal board candidates include individuals who:

  • Are actively engaged in the CDCU, credit union, and/or community development movements
  • Serve as an official of a well-performing credit union
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to the Federation's mission and values
  • Are familiar with the operation of a charitable 501(c)(3) organization and/or trade association
  • Have the capacity to attend meetings and participate in board activities

Responsibilities of Board members

Board members' primary duties are to provide leadership and governance for the Federation; contribute expertise and resources, including by actively participating in at least one committee; promote the organization within and beyond the credit union field; and represent and support member CDCUs.

Board positions are voluntary, and members serve three year terms. Directors are expected to attend three board meetings annually, as well as the Annual Conference and Member Business Meeting. Board members participate actively in committees and represent the Federation in their regions throughout the year.
