Jama Haynes is the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Teachers & Parents Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge, LA. The credit union has served the community for over 85 years and is the largest HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) credit union. Under her leadership, the credit union has made many technological advances, expanded loan programs, and adopted a credit score analysis program to aid members in saving money, improving their credit score and allowing them to qualify for loans with other financial institutions. With over 30 years of credit union experience, Jama served as Member Service Supervisor, ATM Program Manager and COO of Faith Community United Credit Union before moving to her current position.

Jama literally grew up in the credit union industry and understands the importance and need for the credit union movement. She participated in the pilot program for Pathways to Financial Empowerment Program and attended several NFCDCU and Inclusiv conferences.  She is an advocate for serving the underserved and is passionate about serving her community and finding ways to educate, elevate and empower.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Spelman College and an MBA degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Jama is an active participant with her local credit union chapter and league. It has been her honor to serve in elected positions with her alumnae association and has been an active member of the HBCU Alumni Association.
