On Wednesday, December 14, Inclusiv will host the final part of our 3-part webinar series focused on “Advancing Women of Color Leaders in the Credit Union Movement.” Our goal has been to facilitate inspiring and illuminating conversations which address the intersection of race and gender from the perspective of women of color leaders at different stages of their career journeys. During this session you will meet credit union professionals who have been in the field for just a few short years as well as those who have been in the field for over a decade. These passionate, resourceful women will share their leadership experiences in the financial services industry, ways they have overcome challenges, and how they have changed their workplaces for the better.

Meet the Speakers:

Maricela Castillo
Research Consultant, CUNA Mutual Group

Maricela Castillo is a Research Consultant, Multicultural Business Strategy at CUNA Mutual Group. She was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from UW-Whitewater. She has been involved with the credit union movement since 2017 as an intern with CUNA Mutual Group and started her full-time career in January 2020. A 2022 AACUC Commitment to Change Young Professional Leadership Award recipient, Maricela is focusing on multicultural communities and how to make a brighter financial future more accessible for everyone. Her passion for research and creating a positive experience for multicultural communities is what drives her.


Zahra Collins
Program Manager, Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union

Zahra Aprili Collins serves as the program manager for Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union (TUFCU). Her biggest achievement is having successfully written and received confirmation of approximately $5.9 million in private and government grants for TUFCU. Collins is a 2021 recipient of Leadership Toledo's 20 under 40 Leadership Award.

After joining the staff in February 2020, she immediately faced challenges amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Her first task was to interface with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBDC), and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to assist local business owners and the community in accessing the resources and funding available through the C.A.R.E.S. Act. In the last three weeks of the Payroll Protection Program (PPP), she helped lead the effort to open (PPP lending at TUFCU and assisted in servicing / distributing nearly $1.5 million in PPP loans to small businesses in Toledo.


Dohnia Dorman
Chief Experience Officer, African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC)

As Chief Experience Officer for the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC),
Dohnia Dorman optimizes operational efficiency, enhances the member experience and amplifies the AACUC brand through marketing and events for the award-winning organization.
A seasoned executive with more than 10 years of experience in the credit union movement, she has held various executive roles at Suncoast Credit Union including Agile Portfolio Manager, Vice President Account Relationship Operations, Vice President of Deposit Operations and Marketing Director as well as Vice President of Marketing for Rio Grande Credit Union.

Dohnia is a newly minted Development Educator, graduate of Western CUNA Management School with highest honors, alumna of Filene Research Institute’s i3 innovation program and graduate of AACUC’s DEI Leadership Academy for Financial Professionals. She holds a Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication and double major in Spanish from the University of New Mexico


Christina Sauve
Chief Executive Officer, Cooperative Federal

Christina Sauve is the CEO of Cooperative Federal, a low-income designated Community Development Credit Union and MDI founded in Syracuse in 1982. She is a dynamic leader and a driven professional who has spent 15 years on Coop Fed’s management team, serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO) before being promoted to CEO in October 2019. Christina was instrumental to Coop Fed earning the Juntos Avanzamos designation from the Inclusiv Credit Union Network, recognizing the credit union’s comprehensive programs that reach and serve the Latinx community. She was also chiefly responsible for planning and opening a new branch office co-located with the Syracuse Housing Authority’s Central Office, expanding access to asset-building and banking services for a predominantly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community that faces entrenched social and economic marginalization. She is driven by the desire to build a more just world for her son, and a brighter future for our community.
