About North Side

North Side Community Federal Credit Union was founded in February of 1974 to provide an affordable, fair lending alternative to the Uptown community at a time when it was difficult for individuals to get loans. North Side Community Federal Credit Union has grown progressively over the years, and is celebrating its 40th year of lending. We are honoring the credit union's work in the community. North Side Community Federal Credit Union lent over $2 million in loans in 2013, most to low income consumers. The credit union’s financial education programs and housing counseling services are offered to members and the broader community free of charge. Some of North Side Community Federal Credit Union’s most important work is around designing affordable small dollar loan products that provide an alternative to payday lenders.
