Ann Solomon, Strategic Initiatives Manager with the Federation, and Alana Perrone, Director of Technical Assistance at Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners, traveled to Faith Community United Credit Union in Cleveland, Ohio last week. Faith Community is one of five participating credit unions in the Federation’s Pathways to Financial Empowerment pilot, testing a new model and outcome tracking platform for the delivery of high-impact financial counseling. Jacqueline Moore, Jama Haynes, and Dawn Wynn are leading the implementation of the Pathways pilot at Faith Community.
Faith Community United is one of the nation’s first credit unions to be certified as a CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution), and is also one of the industry’s anti-predatory lending pioneers. During 2015, the credit union originated $5.8 million loans to LMI consumers, nearly $800,000 of which are anti-predatory loans.
Pathways to Financial Empowerment is made possible through the generous support of The MetLife Foundation.
