Join Inclusiv for Part XIII of our COVID-19 Response Town Hall series for a look back at insights and experiences from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Leaders from Notre Dame Federal Credit Union and Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union will share their perspectives about the impact of the PPP loans their credit unions made and takeaways from participation in the program. David Hincapie, Economic Development Specialist of the Small Business Administration (SBA) will also share insights.

Speakers:

John Wilkening is the Chief Retail Officer of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. He is a native of Chicago and raised in the Goose Island neighborhood of Whiting, IN. John graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Public Relations. John completed the University of Notre Dame Stanford Executive Banking Program. John has experienced significant success over his 25 years in banking, assuming leadership roles everywhere he has served. John’s experience includes consumer lending and deposit gathering, commercial banking, executive leadership and he has authored and taught his own training. Upon arrival at Notre Dame Federal Credit Union (Notre Dame FCU) as the Chief Retail Officer, John took immediate action in training his team. The credit union doubled its loan volume in his first nine months. Each consecutive year has grown stronger.
Samira Rajan is CEO of Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union, a certified CDFI that offers affordable and transparent financial products to thousands of low to moderate-income people. She is also the Director of the credit union's 501(c)(3) affiliate, Grow Brooklyn. Samira has been with the credit union from its first year when she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. After the year of service was complete, she joined as full-time staff in 2002 as loan officer and has taken on increasing levels of responsibility ever since. In 2010, Samira was recognized by Crain’s New York magazine as one of New York City’s top 40 business ‘rising stars’ under the age of 40. Her educational background includes a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. She was raised in Queens, New York, and currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
