HBCU survey request from Filene and Visa
For the past few months
Filene and
Visa have been working on a project called the HBCU Innovation Incubator.
HBCUs are
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Filene and Visa are trying to connect additional financial resources and solutions to HBCU students, faculty, alumni, and communities that surround these anchor institutions.
As part of the project, they have requested credit unions complete a brief survey to see if there is interest in forming an
HBCU Financial Institution Consortium.
HBCU Internship Program for CDFIs
In addition to the program above,
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) has developed a program to recruit interns from HBCUs and place them at CDFIs across the country.
The program is sponsored by Citi Foundation and the interns are paid $25/hour from grant funding. HBCU interns are currently recruited by LISC and are available to work at CDFIs across the country for 15-20 hours a week.
In order to participate, the internship placement has to be CDFI certified. The interns are juniors and seniors in college, and the students can work in person or fully remotely. LISC has HBCU interns available starting this fall and they can work at their placements until August 2024.
