Homeownership
Our Vision: Credit unions provide affordable homeownership opportunities that support wealth building and thriving communities.
The United States' history of segregation and mortgage redlining has resulted in a staggering racial and ethnic wealth gap. White families were able to access government supports for homeownership that catalyzed the creation of intergenerational wealth while Black and immigrant families were excluded. Now, the typical white household has 9 times the wealth of the typical Black household and 6 times the wealth of the typical Hispanic household.
Community development credit unions are working to broaden homeownership opportunity. Inclusiv supports that vital work with training, technical assistance, and secondary markets.
High Impact Mortgage Initiative
Inclusiv is committed to helping under-resourced communities access wealth-building opportunities through sustainable homeownership. We help credit unions manage interest rate risk and liquidity through secondary markets that lend to borrowers who would otherwise be denied. Our programs help credit unions access liquidity. We provide technical assistance and other services to bolster their capacity as mortgage lenders. We also work to increase their recognition as a vital source of responsible mortgage financing for single family and shared equity homeownership.
Our Approach
We enable community development credit unions (CDCUs) to scale their mortgage lending in the communities they serve.
