Financial Inclusion
Our Vision: Credit unions reach and serve underserved consumers with products and services that build greater financial security and advance their financial goals.
More than half of all Americans could not manage a surprise expense of $1,000 without borrowing and almost a third have no emergency savings at all. At the same time, Black households are 5 times more likely and Hispanic households 4 times more likely to not have a bank account than white households.
Community development credit unions are working in their communities to help their members achieve financial well-being and build assets. Inclusiv is here to support our member credit unions with capital and programs that advance financial inclusion.
Our Financial Inclusion Programs
Our programs help credit unions and cooperativas advance financial inclusion in the communities they serve by providing funding, training, and capacity building resources.
CDFI Impact
CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) credit unions are catalysts for positive change in underserved communities. CDFI certification allows credit unions to access public and private capital that enables them to offer more affordable products, expand services, and reach more people in economically disadvantaged and underserved areas. With generous support from TruStage and Visa, Inclusiv provides reporting support, technical assistance, and networking and peer learning opportunities to our CDFI-certified members.
New Majority Growth Initiative
The New Majority Growth Initiative supports current and future leaders of MDI credit unions and cooperativas to grow their institutions by increasing access to community development finance training, capacity building tools, consulting support and financial resources necessary to undertake high-priority growth activities.
Build & Save
In partnership with Edward Jones, Inclusiv is supporting select community development credit unions to join our efforts to expand and deepen incentivized savings strategies in low income and Black and Brown communities. Through this engagement, Inclusiv is supporting CDCUs to augment existing or develop new matched savings strategies in tandem with ongoing targeted financial empowerment programming.
Financial Coaching
At Inclusiv, we believe financial coaching is an effective tool to improve individuals’ and families’ financial well-being and a core part of how credit unions increase financial empowerment. Inclusiv offers rigorous trainings, strong peer networks, and innovative tools that credit unions need to deliver high-impact financial coaching and other financial inclusion programs and services to their members and bolster financial empowerment in their local communities.
Community Finance for Climate Action
Consumer Finance for Climate Action (CFCA) is a collaborative effort led by Inclusiv and SaverLife, with support from JPMorgan Chase, to identify and develop practical products, services, and policies that support low- and moderate-income households in the face of climate change.
