Clean Energy

Our Vision: Credit unions empower their communities to access affordable clean energy solutions that drive utility bill savings, create good jobs, and build climate resiliency.

Low-income and disadvantaged communities spend a disproportionately large share of their income on energy bills. Higher energy costs mean that low-income communities and communities of color are paying more of their income to heat their homes in the winter and cool their homes in the summer.

The energy cost burden is three times higher for low-income households than for non-low-income households, according to the Department of Energy and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

Together, we intend to build and strengthen credit unions to be central players in a greening economy, providing safe, affordable and innovative lending that make more resilient and prepared households, businesses and communities.

Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy

Inclusiv launched our Center for Resiliency and Clean Energy in 2019 to build a network of credit unions committed to scaling solutions to climate change with the goal of promoting affordable and sustainable energy for all people. The Center is Inclusiv's hub for clean energy initiatives, including Clean Communities Investment Accelerator, Solar and Green Lending Training, Alumni Network, and clean energy market building and advocacy.

Inclusiv is managing a $1.87 billion federal award to provide grants to credit unions. The grants will enable credit unions to build and scale green lending programs that serve low-income and disadvantaged communities. The Environmental Protection Agency awarded these funds to Inclusiv through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Clean Communities Investment Accelerator.
