The New Majority Growth Initiative supports current and future leaders of small MDI credit unions and cooperativas to grow their institutions by increasing access to community development finance training, capacity building tools, consulting support and financial resources necessary to undertake high-priority growth activities. The overall goal is to ensure that Black and Brown people have access to:  

  • Affordable, asset-building loans to withstand emergencies  
  • Reliable transportation to higher paying jobs
  • Homeownership
  • Energy efficiency
  • Opportunities to start and expand small businesses

All participating credit unions and cooperativas enroll in the MDI Learning Center or the Cooperativa Learning Center, which consists of group classes and a collaborative effort to strengthen the growth trajectory of these institutions. Inclusiv  provides community development finance training, access to tools and best practices, consulting support, and grants to MDI CDCUs nationwide through the Racial Equity Grant Fund.
