Athol CU Opens a Community Development Center

State officials, Salvation Army Reps and volunteers joined with Athol Credit Union in Athol, Mass., for the grand opening of its new Community Development Center. Located on Main Street in Athol, adjacent to the credit union, the center will be used to enhance community life, serving as a gathering place for a wide variety of purposes, from financial education classes to community meetings and bazaars. The center is a natural outcome resulting from the credit union's recent certification as a Community Development Financial Institution. Athol Credit Union is only one of two CDFI designated credit unions in Massachusetts. The other is Greylock Federal Credit Union in Pittsfield.
